The PDF embedded below represents a visual manifesto, the culmination of my work during the Architectural Theory course, Architecture in the City, at the University of Canberra. This manifesto serves as a conceptual exploration of urban design principles, emphasizing the critical role of a mixed-use urban fabric in fostering vibrant, sustainable cities. Through a series of compelling visuals, the work illustrates the key ingredients necessary for creating a successful streetscape—elements that contribute to the dynamic interplay of public and private spaces, the activation of street life, and the seamless integration of diverse urban functions.
What sets this work apart is its unique presentation: printed and hand-painted on Mylar, the manifesto blends traditional artistic techniques with modern design concepts. The choice of Mylar, known for its durability and transparency, symbolizes the layers and complexity of urban life, while the hand-painted elements add a personal, tactile dimension to the theoretical discourse. This combination of mediums underscores the manifesto's central theme—the harmonious integration of diverse components to create a cohesive and thriving urban environment."
